Classic Shamisen made of Shitan/rosewood (New)
This shamisen is crafted from shitan (rosewood), a material widely used in string instruments such as guitars and known for its excellent tonal compatibility.
Historically, shitan was used for high-grade shamisen necks until the 19th century, before being replaced by kouki.
With a neck thickness of 9-bu 2-rin and a dou size of 4-bu dai, it sits between a chuuzao and a futozao, offering a well-balanced, hybrid design.
This versatile size makes it an ideal choice for players who move across different musical styles.
For Tsugaru players, it delivers a powerful sound in a more compact form, while for nagauta-style players, it provides a depth and strength closer to that of a thicker neck.
A truly flexible instrument suited for a wide range of performance styles.
It includes koma, bachikawa seal, dougomu, fret sticker.
