There are 3 types of shamisen; Hosozao, Chuzao, and Futozao. The size of their neck and the body are all slightly different.
If you want to play a particular genre, please ask us which shamisen is good for that genre.
But all shamisen have the same structure and mechanism. And also the way to play, way to hold, and basic thought are all the same.
So you can play any genre by all kinds of shamisen.
